KIA ORA!
So share la sikit tips 4 musim…
TUJUAN BERCUTI/AKTIVITI APA NAK BUAT
Bab ni paling susah…haha…sama je saya pun sebab banyak kot aktiviti menarik nak buat kat sini…nak buat semua kena duduk berbulan..bertahun gak la…hehe…tanya diri sendiri…datang nak buat apa dulu...
BAJET…ni paling penting la kan….nak buat semua tapi pada masa yang sama bajet nak murah la kan…tu dah lumrah manusia…hehe…jangan marah…normal la…jadi kena pandai tengok jugak…contoh, musim panas ramai orang so mahal la jadinya …konsep demand & supply…hehe…kalau datang musim sejuk murah skit tapi factor cuaca sejuk plak…tapi kalau memang nak layan main salji…ok la kan…elak datang time orang ramai la…

Tongariro Alpine Crossing
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is heralded as the best one-day trek available in New Zealand, while others say it ranks among the top ten single-day treks in the world….You will be crossing 3 mountains as the back ground…
Mt Tongariro…Mt Ngauruhoe (Also known as Mt Doom in Lord of the Ring movie)…Mt Ruapehu (this one you can see from far in good weather)
Haaa giler tak excited when you get to know it’s the best and top ten in the world tuuuu…
I had the most amazing 3 days 2 nights adventure moment with one of my dear friend…just 2 of us went..sorry guys...this week iols have lots to share...a bit long to read...but I try not to be boring kayyy...hehe
Let me walk you through my precious journey…
Bought promotion package in GrabOne NZ few months earlier (I think about 3-4 months early)…package include 3D2N accommodation, 2 breakfast, 1 packed lunch to bring for hiking day, 1 dinner and transport from hotel to start of the track and pick up from end track back to hotel.
We had to arrange transport from Auckland to nearest town caused it's not in the package…(budget ciput…ye la student kan...haha)...Instead of renting a car…we booked “InterCity Bus” from Auckland City to Ohakune (nearest town to stay to Tongariro National Park)...naik bus uolsss...but happeningggg naik bus ada katil double decker...can sleep maaa..hehe
Our journey starts…
By bus took us about 6 hours plus…if by car will be around 4.5 hours driving… Distance is about 356km (Auckland City – Ohanuke town) Reached Ohanuke around afternoon had our lunch at one of the best fish and chips shop I’ve ever tried so far…serious sedap weiii…then walked around the town…very small and quiet town I must say…koboi gak la…I guess people who stays there are busy with their adventurous activities…
Check in 3.00pm at Tussock Grove Boutique Hotel
First during briefing... they told us that we might need to cancel our trip tomorrow due to strong wind according to weather forecast for Mt Tongariro….They will update again latest by 9.00pm whether we can proceed “Hopefully the wind will drop for you guys…” That’s exactly what he said with a big smile on his face…meanwhile he told us other alternative walk we can do..there are few forest trails la…but your heart been waiting to do this crossing kan…but tu la…tipu la tak frust…giler I tell you…we were like “Noooooo….we came all the way here…” but then you can’t do much right…all this in God’s hand…so pray hard people that weather will be good…Allah knows best
While waiting in the room…still praying hard…like seriously we were like “Ya Allah pleaseeeeee help us…only You can change all this…” same time we were looking at other alternative walk…sedapkan hati since we ‘re already there and if there’s no choice…belasah aje lah…so be prepared for any consequences ya guys...seriously the group after us had to cancel it due to bad weather...
9.00pm…someone knock on our door…serious nervous hokayyyy…
“I have good news for you…the wind has dropped to 45km/h…so you guys can get ready tomorrow morning as planned.”
Fuhhhhhh….Sujud Syukur terus…punya la happy to go and Allah listened to our prayer…hehe…Syukur Alhamdulillah…now can see big smile on our face...haha
The actual adventure day…hehe excited! (Please read the last part…coz I’m sharing good tips to prepare yourself for this hike…sounds like a pro hey…haha…takde la pro pun…speaking through experience…hehe…but very important to take note)
6.30am Had pancake for breakfast…yumss
Took our packed lunch prepared by hotel...2 vegetarian sandwich, 1 apple, 2 muesli bars, 1 bottle drinking water (1L)…cewah macam kiwi dah kan…hehe…feeling p laaa…
You definitely need more than 1L people…standby 2-3L of water coz you can’t refill any along your hike…no water supply
7.15am Departs from Hotel to starting point of the track called Mangatepopo
8.30am Arrived at Mangatepopo…Shuttle driver told us pick up time is 4.30pm at the other end Ketetahi Car Park….It’s a one way trail ya…you won’t have enough time to patah balik in a day
8.45am And…The fellowship journey begun…
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing track spans the length of Mount Tongariro, covering 19.4 kilometres. On average the trek takes between seven and nine hours to complete. We completed around 7 hours plus the crossing passes over the volcanic terrain of the multi-cratered active volcano Mt Tongariro passing the eastern base of Mt Ngauruhoe which can optionally be climbed as a side trip.
The track starts at the Mangatepopo Valley and finishes at Ketatahi Road. Following the track in this direction means the least amount of climbing is involved, though first timers should be aware that the track is considered steep in parts.
Track has few stages…seriously you will be amazed throughout your journey…but don’t forget to set your walking timing ya…if not you won’t have enough time to reach the end…the shuttle won’t wait for you…they will only wait for 5-10 minutes…if not byeeeee…honestly hard to follow time especially when your eyes are stuck with God’s creations…Subhanallah you were like in different world I tell you…chek tak tau laaa…how to explain in words how crazy beautiful your journey will be… Cantikkkkk sangattttt
Ok…let me help you with some timing tips…this one also I got it from Tongariro Crossing journey plan official sites…I’m saving your time here people so you don’t have to Google and browse to find info here and there…

Alhamdulillah and BIG Congratulations… Ikhlas Tours has been appointed as an agent to the biggest Motorhome supplier in New Zealand… Perggghhhh… layan road trip la lepas niiii… Time to plan for your road trip with great local deals…Of course this part you need to contact Ikhlas Tours to get further details… try not to miss this ya… cause it’s for the Autumn/Winter season deal…
I have shared with you about creating your “Golden Autumn Journey” right??? Apa lagiiii… Autumn is just around the corner… pack your bag darling… haha
Well… enough mumbling Dira… next topic pleasee (talking to myself… to control not to overly write of unnecessary things…haha) Since the great deal is for Autumn/Winter… it's the best time for me to share with you about Winter Wonders in New Zealand that will surprise you…
You probably wonder what great activities to do in super cold weather when you would rather stay at home and don’t even want to get out of your warm blanket… Yep, that was pretty much my train of thought too… hahaha… but let me share something that might change your mind and willing to put your thick winter jacket… hit the road to see the magical view of white snow capped or snow covered mountains as your “Selfie” pictures background… Time to change to new profile picture guys (I can feel you)…hehe
Here is a quick overview of why you should travel to New Zealand in white winter season…
Tips: I would suggest North Island Road Trip in winter cause in South Island some of the best tourist spots and roads will be closed due to bad weather condition and you might end up disappointed when you can’t enter certain places… Plus the temperature in North Island is not too cold compared to South Island.
Does it snow in New Zealand?
Well…don't expect the ground to be continuously blanketed by snow. Mostly you can see snow when you take the scenic drive up to Mount Ruapehu and Mount Taranaki in the North Island. While in the South Island mountains are all snow covered.
Winter here starts in June until August… Best things about this season:
Save some cash - Accommodation will be cheaper and you could probably get good airfares deal since less people travelling… you can stay longer and do more with the extra cash you save right..hehe… another plus point when you are in NZ; lots of free outdoor activities that will promise stunning views…
Skiing and Snow boarding - drive up to Mount Ruapehu to get your snow falling experience (Beginners like me…for sure jatuh tergolek lerrrr…haha)…”Do you wanna build a snowww mannn… ”hehe..feeling abis!! Whoever wants to play with snow, Whakapapa Ski Field or Turoa Ski Field in Mount Ruapehu need to be in your list. If you're a skier, you'll be heading to Queenstown, Mount Hutt, Canterbury in the South Island, or the Central Plateau in the North Island - and paying top dollar for the privilege and have fun!!!!
Hot Pools - what could be better than finding your hot tub in the middle of the forest? Ladiessss… this is to die for… confirmmm you want to experience this… soak yourself in the hot springs while enjoying the nature beauty right in front of you… gilerrr best hokey!!! It goes without saying that the hot springs are best enjoyed in the winter, when the chilly air causes steam to rise visibly in the air, tempting even the most stubbornly terrestrial among us.
Winter adventure - avoid busy summer trails and explore it during winter with less people around...·
Tips: Please remember daylight hours are less in winter…so you need to carefully plan your journey…Review back your gear…what clothes to wear especially when you head up the mountains or outdoor activities.
Contact Ikhlas Tours to help you create your holiday journey to be a memorable one…
Till then…have a great week ahead travel lovers…talk to you soon!
Hellooo travel lovers…
Hope you had a great week… enjoy reading what I’ve shared last week? Hopefully you find it useful to plan your trip to New Zealand... (Best tak? Best tak???) hehe… I get a bit nervous now to keep up the excitement going… will try my best ya…
It’s the last month of summer in New Zealand… I guess it’s a bit late to talk about this hot season now (definitely will cover soon about summer)… so I’ve decided to spill the beans about the coming season that is just around the corner… Yellow Orange and Red… Yayyy my favourite season of the year!!!!
"AUTUMN…is a second spring when every leaf is a flower"
- Albert Camus -
This is when you start to see back paint of colours in the background that summer has never seen. Autumn starts from March and ends in May… the best season for New Zealanders to still enjoy outdoor activities… just nice weather; not too hot like summer and not too cold before winter comes…
Omgggg… Imagine driving along the scenic route in South Island with the stunning autumn backdrop… calm and quiet moment when you park your motorhome… sitting by the lake and mesmerized by the colours of autumn with cuppa hot coffee... ”Best feeling ever!!!”… haha… ok enough about feeling2… time to make it a reality :)
Besides spring… Autumn is another good season for road trips… so for travelers who dream to do Leisure or Motorhome road trip… you can book your flight tickets and pack your bag from nowwwww… hehe
Let’s start planning for your autumn trip (I plak excited!!!)…I will share a few things here…hopefully it will help you get some ideas:
1. Best Time To See Autumn Colours
March to early April… still hot and you can’t see much autumn colours yet… but it's a good time for outdoor lovers to explore the trails. After the first week of May it tends to rain more and leaves usually start falling.
Peak time for fall foliage is roughly from the second week of April to early May. The best time you get to see the colours of autumn? Definitely I can’t give you the exact date cause it’s all up to mother nature… I’m just mother of a child… hehe…. But that’s the rough idea for you to know when's the best time to come.
Note: Average temperature in autumn is highest around 20'C day time and lowest can be around 10'C night time...depending on the area as well...southern areas get much colder...just don't forget to check the weather forecast so you know the right jacket to bring...not the thick "Mink Coat" ya...just kidding...hehe
2. Top Places To Visit During Autumn
Why South Island? According to the locals.. More places you can get autumn colours there…
Take the scenic route and enjoy the beautiful golden colours of autumn… Places you could put in your itinerary :
Tips : Check driving distance from one place to another… Again… pleaseeee don’t rush to cover all the places in one trip cause you won’t have enough time (Trust me!)… If you have time to visit only one location in New Zealand for fall foliage, Arrowtown would be the best place to visit according to the locals here.
3. Activities In Autumn
Still best time to do outdoor activities... honestly I prefer early autumn for some outdoor adventures... but not towards end of autumn because there'll be more rains by then.
4. Ikhlas Tours - Leisure or Motorhome Package?
To travel in autumn, you can contact Ikhlas Tours for Leisure Packages (vehicle and accommodation). Ikhlas Tours will recommend suitable vehicle for your group and self-contained accommodation. Our packages focus on laid back and leisure concept... basically we want you to experience New Zealanders style... cause here it's always about how you appreciate nature's beauty... peaceful and quiet ambiance... time to relax and clear your mind...
Alternatively, book Ikhlas Tours Motorhome or Campervan (not Caravan ya...not really the right term actually cause Caravan needs to use tow bar... and Malaysian Driving license is not allowed to drive this type of vehicles)... you are not the only one... all this while I called it Caravan too.. haha
The motorhome comes with :
Ikhlas Tours package also includes :
Again Ikhlas Tours is here to assist your travel plan...the best way to fit your wish list and budget.
Please visit Ikhlas Tours website at www.ikhlastours.co.nz
That's roughly about autumn... hope it's useful enough to plan your golden journey...hehe... Next I will share everyone's favourite season of the year...I'm sure you can guess what season that is...haha..you definitely don't want to miss it... Tungguuuuu
Till then… talk to you soon travel lovers with more tips to be shared!
"Create your journey moment...."
Had a good long weekend last week? Great CNY celebration and a good time to getaway hey…save some annual leave to come to New Zealand okayyy… hehe
We had a long weekend here too… It’s public holiday to celebrate Waitangi Day… a bit of history summary of Waitangi… Treaty was signed that made New Zealand part of the British Empire, guaranteed Māori rights to their land and gave Māori the rights of British subjects…The day was first officially commemorated in 1934, and it has been a public holiday since 1974....
No need to talk so long la kan cause not everyone gets very excited when it comes to history.. haha
This is what I did… don’t be jealoussss haha… it’s the last weekend for Pick Your Own Strawberry at the farm…
Ok...back to what I promised in the last topic...here is everyone's favourite season...specially dedicated to all ladies out there...you going to loveeee me (love you too...hehe) for saving your time and energy browsing for the best time to see flowers blooming in New Zealand...hehe
I won't write much this time...Just short and sweet tips...the rest...Let the pictures make you fall in love with all the beautiful flowers...hehe

First of all... before you wonder who is this person writing/blogging about New Zealand here...
(If you ever wonder...hehe)...just a short and nice thing about ME...hehe
"Dira" is what people call me... from Malaysia... came to live in New Zealand a year ago... maybe still a new comer but that's more than enough to make me fall in love with this Kiwi Land... I love traveling (I'm sure everyone too right...hehe) I'm a nature and outdoor person... enjoy very much hiking/tramping.. dirty and muddy is not an issue for me..
Having said that, that's why New Zealand is like "Heaven on Earth" for me... Every where you go there's always trails for you to explore... Best part when you go tramping in good weather; you won't get sweaty and sticky... and another plus point... New Zealand has a small number of poisonous animals and no "Pacat" I tell youuuuu...haha
Told myself "Wish one day I can write a blog about this beautiful country"... I'm not a professional writer but sharing stories has always been my passion... and one day... Syukur Alhamdulillah... "Dreams can become reality when you get the opportunity....just grab it!" when I met this lovely Malaysian couple who has lived in Auckland since years ago... They have lots of tips when it comes to traveling in New Zealand.
The owner of Ikhlas Tours Limited (you can explore their website for more details... cewahhh "iklan" jap) and they are looking for someone to share stories about traveling in New Zealand in their website. With lots of experience living in New Zealand, I learned a lot of tips when they shared their stories.
So here I am...Writing/blogging in my own way what I've experienced, observed, heard and learned from people around me... "Good things are to be shared right?" And this time I want to share about the "Best time to visit New Zealand"
Whatipu - Waitakere Ranges...bush and coastal hike
I’m sure a “common” question we always have is… “When is the best time to visit?” Always hard to decide right… cause each one of us has different wish lists when we travel. As usual we want to cover as much as we can but with limited time. But then again, holiday is always the time for us to relax and enjoy our journey. Plan it wisely to create wonderful memories and don’t rush to do everything. New Zealand is a gorgeous country that can be visited anytime throughout the year. Every season is unique in its special way…
Best to have these 3 main things first to consider :
1. The seasons
Just a short summary about the seasons… I will share with you from time to time for each season in more details ya…so wait for my next topic please...
Spring is definitely everybody’s favourite season! You can visit cities where flowers are blooming. Christchurch is one of those cities to visit in spring. Snow can still fall in early spring, so it’s the perfect time to see snow on the mountains.
Summer can be seen as the peak tourist season here. Most activity providers are open for business and it is the perfect time for adventure, hiking, day walk, scenic drives, picking fruits, etc. Just bear in mind “It’s usually going to be bright SUNNY Day!” Don’t’ forget to put your sunblock ya…
Autumn is another favourite season… Yellow Orange Red are great combo that make such colourful views. The best locations for colours of autumn in New Zealand are Mackenzie Country from Tekapo to Omarama, the Southern Lakes region (Wanaka, Queenstown and Arrowtown), and parts of Central Otago. There can be early snow in autumn, but generally not enough for winter sports.
Winter as you know...the coldest season of the year and snowing in certain areas of New Zealand especially in the South Island. Weather can be unpredictable and short day light time. The mountains are generally snow-capped and snow covered in some parts of South Island. Sometimes some places and roads are closed in South Island. In other words, it is not really the best time to visit South Island in winter. But if you plan to cover just North Island this could be a great time for skiing or snow boarding at Mount Ruapehu. Accommodation will be cheaper during winter too.
2. Purpose to visit/what activities you want to do
This is the hardest part I must say… haha… I can totally understand cause there are too many things to do in very limited time! Ask yourself "What activities you want to do"... but not all at the same time ya... you will need months or years to cover all... hehe.. Seriously there are too many exciting things you want to do here...
From what I observed and what people shared, especially those who have used Ikhlas Tours services... the famous/common activities you want to do when you visit New Zealand are :
Adventure Tourism.... for nature, extreme sports and outdoor lovers... this will be a country you don't wanna miss and definitely should be in your bucket list. Bungy Jumping, Skydiving, Water Rafting, Mountain Biking, Hiking and Tramping... Goshhh I can go on and on... haha... I was soooo amazed with the nature's beauty... Subhanallah... it's beyond words!!! Even pictures can't capture the real beauty... You must come and witness with your own eyes...
Sightseeing.... Top on the list ! Gorgeous... Magnificent... Picturesque... Beautiful... Amazing VIEWS!!! You just need to really take your time when driving (follow the speed limit of course..not too slow...haha) and pleaseeee enjoy your ride... I can guarantee there will be lots of pit stops... so plan your journey wisely... don't rush!
Tips : Make sure you know the distance from one place to another. Driving in New Zealand might take hours to go from one place to another plus… your eyes will be amazed with the views throughout your road trip. Again season is another factor when you drive, in winter days are shorter, so you can’t drive for long hours as it will get dark by 5.30pm… 5.30pm winter time can be like 8.00pm ya. Certain activities you can only do in certain seasons, so if you’re coming to New Zealand to be able to do a particular activity, the season might affect your choice on when to visit.
Education Trips... given the country is one of the top education systems in the world...people from all over the world come to learn from the experts here...
Work related or Business Trips... some might need to come for an official trip...in between you can usually include some site visits and (sambil menyelam minum air) explore the nature's beauty...
Well… I can just share a short summary of activities that can help you to have something in mind. And definitely you can use Ikhlas Tours services to help you plan your journey since they are the experts in this and have done lots of it with their clients. Ikhlas Tours can customize the packages to fit your wish list.... at the same time check out also the standard packages available.
3. Your budget
Accommodation can affect your budget too, depending on seasons. For example, in New Zealand summer time accommodation can shoot up due to peak season. Kiwis always take long leaves during that time. But you can counter that with free outdoor activities New Zealanders style…
Ikhlas Tours can advise you the best time to visit New Zealand to suit with your budget. If your budget is quite limited, avoid peak summer season. Winter is the cheapest because demand is low... but it depends on whether you are okay with cold weather and want to do winter activities.... alternatively you could consider shoulder season... that is, between winter and spring, or end of autumn before winter.
Additional points to put into consideration :
The other main thing to note about holidays in New Zealand is that during the Christmas and New Year period, almost all businesses are shut down for a couple of weeks, so you’ve got this massive amount of New Zealanders who are on holiday in December and January. It can get very crowded in some areas, especially where there’s water (beaches and lakes), because Kiwis enjoy water activities a lot.
Having said that, New Zealand population currently is about 4.6 million so even if the entire country went on holiday, it would still not get super crowded; and you’d still be able to find places where there isn’t a single soul around. The only issue would be finding accommodation in popular regions such as Queenstown.
Contact us at Ikhlas Tours... InsyaAllah we will always get something to offer...Hope to see you in New Zealand!
